Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Has Different Animation Styles for Each Dimension
Into the Spider-Verse told a unique origin story for Miles Morales, but Lord and Miller are hoping the sequel pushes the superhero's story further:
With Across the Spider-Verse heading across into different dimensions, the duo mentions how each world opens up various creative opportunities. This has led the animation team to develop unique art styles for each dimension.
Varying styles were captured in the Oscar-Winning film, as Miles was joined by the black-and-white Spider-Man Noir and a more cartoonish Spider-Ham. Peni Parker's character model had more of an anime style, lending a touch of distinction to each Spider-person's personality.
You can also see some of these changing styles in the teaser trailer for Across the Spider-Verse, where Miles is thrown from a sketch-like haven to a futuristic, 3D world, lending truth to Lord and Miller's words.
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse's ambitious animation is matched by its story, with Part One slated for this year and Part Two in 2023.
The sequels will feature the return of Shameik Moore as the leading hero, along with Hailee Steinfeld's Gwen Stacy and Jake Johnson as Peter B. Parker. Oscar Isaac and Issa Rae will be joining the cast as Spider-Man 2099 (Miguel O'Hara) and 1977 Spider-Woman (Jessica Drew) respectively.
