FromSoftware is working on more than just Elden Ring: Nightreign and The Duskbloods for Nintendo’s new console.
Behind the scenes, work is progressing on a project named "FMC" that might come out before The Duskbloods does.
FMC stands out not only because it’s shrouded in secrecy but also due to many insider reports showing how advanced its development is.
Unless something throws a wrench into the timeline, fans could be playing this mysterious title as early as 2026.
Is FMC a New FromSoftware Game?
The codename “FMC” looks vague but matches FromSoftware’s usual short abbreviations like “GR” for Elden Ring, “SPRJ” for Bloodborne, and “FNR” for Armored Core VI.

Based on those patterns, FMC follows the same internal structure but does not have a confirmed release or platform.
That alone helps rule out the possibility of it being The Duskbloods, since that game is confirmed to be exclusive to the Switch 2.
In contrast, FMC is reportedly being developed as a multiplatform title, which instantly puts it in a separate category.
Could It Be a Remaster or Something Entirely New?
Of the three main theories, the first is the most grounded and claims it’s a Dark Souls III Remastered.
This theory has gained momentum because of the timing and the codename’s setup.
Nick “Shpeshal Nick” Baker and other well-known industry experts have pointed out that DS3 is expected to be the next for an upgrade, as the first two Souls games were already remastered.
FMC could very well be that project, rebuilt with upgraded assets and modern consoles in mind. DS3 is popular and has a strong modding community, so many think it needs a full revival, not just patches.
Still, another camp of fans and insiders claims FMC may actually be a brand-new IP instead of a remaster.
With Elden Ring doing so well, FromSoftware may try to capitalize and deliver a fresh experience, perhaps by switching genres like they did before.
Now that several internal teams are set up and many projects are underway, this might be the ideal time for the studio to try a completely new approach. The theory is supported by how tightly they have hidden the project.
There are no leaked assets, trailers, or solid guesses about its style or gameplay. The third theory takes a more niche angle: FMC might be tied to Armored Core, either as a spinoff or a semi-sequel to Fires of Rubicon.
Long-time fans of that franchise point out that FromSoftware has a history of releasing quick follow-ups in that universe, sometimes within just a year or two of a mainline entry.
If that is the case, FMC could be an expanded version of the Armored Core VI framework with multiplayer systems, new mechs, or experimental combat tweaks. Given the comeback of mech games since Rubicon, it could happen.
How Are Fans Decoding the Mystery Behind FMC?
Interestingly, some fans have gone down the rabbit hole of speculation with cipher tools and acronym guesses, including one theory that uses Vigenère ciphers to translate FMC as “KFV,” leading to guesses that FromSoft might be reviving the ancient King’s Field series.

Some people jokingly say it means anything from “Full Metal Chemist” to “Futuristic Mech Combat.” Most of these are obviously jokes, but they reveal how excited the community is to learn about FromSoftware’s plans.
Even with all the speculation, most sources agree FMC is coming sooner than expected. The project is in polishing now, with only some technical work remaining before it can be shown publicly.
If everything stays the same, FMC could debut during a major event like Gamescom, The Game Awards, or a sudden Sony showcase. The Duskbloods is made for Nintendo players, so FromSoftware is timing releases to give each game attention.
