The PlayStation 5 has a couple of advantages over the Xbox Series X that people may not have realised.

As reported by VG247, Sony's console has faster USB connections and uses the new Wi-Fi 6 standard.

Here's what that means in practical terms.

PS5 Has Faster USB Ports and Wi-Fi Than Xbox Series X

You can check out the PS5 teardown video below.

According to the video, the PS5's USB-C port and rear USB-A ports will offer 10Gbps transfer speeds, while the front USB-A port will be slower (meaning it's better to plug any storage you may have into the back).

Still, the Series X lacks USB-C ports, and its USB-A ports cap out at 5Gbps.

VG247 also noted that the console supports the new Wi-Fi 6 standard, with a 9.6 Gbps maximum speed.

For comparison, the Series X offers Wi-Fi 5, with a maximum speed of 3.5 Gbps - less than half.

You'll need a Wi-Fi 6 capable router, and it won't necessarily supercharge your download speeds, but it does mean that connections will be more evenly distributed to other devices.
