Capcom just announced that they’ll be making speedruns much more consistent in the next update, with major changes coming to how Wounds appear on monsters.

In a recent Guild Report from Monster Hunter Wildsofficial X account, they shared that they’ve heard feedback from players about the inconsistent Wound locations on monsters during time-based competition quests, particularly in Free Challenge Quests, Challenge Quests, and Arena Quests.

Guild Report 13 is good news for Speedrunners.

For speedrunners, this update is a big win. The random placement of Wounds often made hunts feel artificially longer. Now, with this issue addressed in upcoming updates, Capcom is ensuring consistency across all time-based quests. Hunters won’t have to worry about Wounds showing up in different spots anymore, giving speedrunners a better shot at breaking world records without second-guessing Wound locations.

Capcom’s goal with this change is to support fairness in Monster Hunter Wilds’ speedrun community. Instead of focusing on RNG-based mechanics, players can fully focus on optimizing their runs and squeezing out every bit of damage.

Fans are welcoming the change, though Capcom clarified that it won’t apply to regular quests without time limits. Standard Tempered and Arch-Tempered hunts will still have randomly generated Wounds.

For those looking for a consistent speedrunning challenge, time-based quests like Arena Quests and Challenge Quests are the way to go.

Just hours from now, Capcom is releasing a limited-time free Challenge Quest featuring Arch-Tempered Uth Duna. This will be the first live test of the new Wound consistency system, with more updates expected soon.

Monster Hunter Wilds’ Festival of Accord: Flamefete is still ongoing until August 11, bringing plenty of new content for fans. This includes the Arch-Tempered Uth Duna hunt, fresh cosmetics for Alma, Gemma, and Erik, and even a fun water gun gesture to use with friends.
